It’s all about you…
It's all about you…
If you’ve been to a wedding lately - planning your own - or spent a bit too long procrastinating on that dreaded app - you might have noticed some pretty cool changes in the wedding industry. I have always been a preacher of the fact that a wedding day is yours and no one else's, and although that sounds insanely obvious there are so many traditional things that people either expect or assume you will do.
Personalisation is Key
Out with the cookie-cutter weddings! Weddings today are all about the couple and making their day reflect their unique style, and what feels right to them. There are so many fun ways to incorporate nods to you and your fiance, whether that be through small touches or huge displays! Think out of the box - incorporate yourselves through the decor, styling, food, drinks, stationary and so much more.
Here are some of my personal favourite ways I have seen couples incorporate themselves, their passions, hobbies, family and pets into the big day…
Wedding Newspapers… These are all the rage, and rightfully so! Such a simple yet unique and fun way to add some personalisation to the day and whats best is that they are completely customisable, so you can add as much or as little as you’d like.
Personalised Cocktails… now this one is one of the most popular options and I absolutely see why. Whether you are having a cocktail hour or just having cocktails available on the bar, why not rename your favourite drink and sip on it all night - something so simple and easy just adds that little extra something!
Late Night Bites… What's stopping you from incorporating your favourite foods throughout the day? Just because you love a particular cuisine does not mean you have to fully commit to it at every part of the day through drinks, canapes, wedding meal, dessert, evening food - that may be a tad too much! However there are so many fun ways to incorporate your favourite dish into it. I worked at an incredible wedding earlier this year that was so unique to the couple and they had so many small touches and nods to themselves - my favourite being portions of chips served to guests in the evening with jugs of gravy & curry sauce to accompany!
After the beep… unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve probably seen this one, the audio guestbook is a relatively new concept and it is very much here to stay. What they say is true: your day will go by in a blink of an eye and beyond actually being able to bottle the moment up the audio guest book is the next best thing. Capturing your loved ones words, messages, advice and pure reactions in the moment whilst the rest of your guests are living it up on the dance floor is the second best feeling!
The wedding world is changing, and all for the better. It is becoming more and more about the individuality of the couple and about prioritising what truly matters, love and authenticity.
Whether you’re planning your own wedding or just enjoying the celebrations of friends, these fresh trends make it an exciting time to be part of the wedding scene.
